NHAA Call for Entry - 22nd Annual Joan L. Dunfey Open Juried Exhibition
Thank you for your interest in the New Hampshire Art Association's 22nd Annual Joan L. Dunfey Open Juried Exhibition “Portals”. Located at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery in Portsmouth, NH, this exhibit is one of NHAA's most prestigious exhibits of the year. It is held annually in honor of Joan L Dunfey a steadfast patron of the arts.
Below is the prospectus for the exhibit.

ELIGIBILITY:
Open to all regional artists – NHAA Members & Non-Members.
1-2 entries per artist.
All mediums accepted.
All works must be original and available to exhibit during the Exhibition Period.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTED SUBMISSIONS: Fri. Oct. 8
DELIVERY OF ACCEPTED SUBMISSIONS: Sunday, Oct. 31 and Monday, Nov. 1
PICK-UP OF ACCEPTED SUBMISSIONS: Sunday, Nov.. 28 and Monday, Nov. 29
*Accepted work must be picked up and dropped off at the NHAA Gallery in Portsmouth, NH.
*Artists will be notified of drop off and pick up times on the dates specified.
*We do not provide courier services.
*Accepted artwork that is not delivered by the delivery date will not be included in the exhibition.
JURY PROCESS:
This year’s juror is Mary Hardy, a 1975 graduate of Brown University, who has always been passionate about art. After graduation, she was an exhibit designer for Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and for the Margaret Woodbury Strong Museum in Rochester, New York. She served as director of the Barn Gallery of Ogunquit, Maine for four years.
Since 1990, she has been an independent art consultant specializing in regional contemporary art. Harding curated the contemporary art exhibits for the George Marshall Store Gallery, a property of the Old York Historical Society from 1996 through 2020.
Presently, she has continued visiting artist’s studios, galleries and other venues and sharing where she goes and what she sees through occasional newsletters which are posted on her website: mhardingart.com
All work will be juried online in digital format.
Artists will be notified by email for each submission entered.
AWARDS/PRIZES:
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize money will be awarded (amounts to be finalized and announced shortly, please visit nhartassociation.org for updates).
Honorable mentions will also be selected.
ENTRY FEE:
NHAA Members: One submission: $20 / Two submissions: $25
Non-members: One submission: $40 / Two submissions: $45
Students: NHAA member price with valid student ID (email image of ID or bring at drop off).
Payments received via check and online:
Online: Please visit nhartassociation.org. on the Dunfey page under Call for Art, click on “Select Entry Fee” and select your entry fee in the dropdown menu, then click on the “ADD TO CART” button to enter credit card information.
Check or Cash: Pay in person or mail to New Hampshire Art Association, 136 State St, Portsmouth, NH 03801. If paying by check, indicate in comments section “Entry Fee for Dunfey”.
Must pay entry fee prior to entering submissions. Please note: we are only accepting payments through the New Hampshire Art Association. ArtCall.org is not set up to accept payments.
Payments are non-refundable.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Please visit nhartassociation.org home page and click on the Dunfey call to art button for instructions on submitting your pieces via the ArtCall system.
In addition to information about your work, you will be required to submit a jpeg digital image of each entry.
Submission image attachments must be under 4 mg, with minimum of 1960 pixels and a maximum of 4600 pixels on the longest side.
Finished dimensions of actual work must not exceed 50" in the longest direction including frame.
NHAA exhibits only original works of art, conceived and created by the artist submitting the work.
All work must be professionally framed and finished front and back and must comply with the NHAA Presentation and Framing Policies outlined below.
Artwork must not have been displayed in a previous NHAA exhibition and created within the last 3 years
If your work is accepted, you agree to allow NHAA to use your image for PR/Advertising such as print, website, Facebook etc.
NHAA reserves the right to decline artwork that is substantially different than the image submitted or work that is deemed inappropriate for its audiences.

SALES:
All work must be for sale. NHAA retains 40% commission on work sold.
If your work is accepted, you agree to allow NHAA to have exclusive rights to exhibit and sell your work both in our main gallery and in an online gallery on the NHAA website during the exhibit period. The NHAA works hard to promote and support the sale of your artwork. If a sale occurs after the exhibit as a result of the buyer seeing the piece online or in person at NHAA, you agree that you will contact NHAA so that we can process the sale using the terms and conditions stated in this agreement.
LIABILITY:
NHAA will not be responsible for any loss or damage to any work from any cause. Submitting work will imply agreement on the part of the artist with this condition.
ABOUT Joan L Dunfey:
Joan Dunfey a mother of four, raised her children in the seacoast area and was a steadfast patron of the arts. Upon her death in 1998 at 73 years old, her estate provided funding for the “Joan L. Dunfey Fund for the Arts” through the New Hampshire Charitable fund, which supports this annual exhibit.
NHAA PRESENTATION & FRAMING POLICIES
Policies apply to all NHAA exhibitions, including both on and offsite locations. NHAA exhibits only original works of art. They must be conceived/created by the artist. Customers who purchase art from a professional art organization, such as the NHAA, should receive artwork that is professionally framed and finished, front and back. It is the sole responsibility of the artist to abide by current trademark and copyright laws. Copyright infringement will result in the loss of NHAA membership.
Works on Paper:
Artist must indicate edition size and number on any and all edition work. The NHAA exhibits only original works of art. If it is an open edition, please state that clearly.
All works on paper should be framed and matted or lifted away from the glass with archival matting or spacers.
Frames and mats must be clean, professionally cut/constructed, and undamaged.
At delivery, all works must be wired and ready to hang. Saw tooth hangers, Pop-in frames, free standing frames NOT accepted,
Works on Canvas:
Works on canvas do not need to be framed as long as sides of canvas are clean, or finished with a strip frame.
Surface and corners should be taut, wrinkle-free, and free of visible threads or staples.
At delivery, all works must be wired and ready to hang.
All work must be completely dry.
Works on other:
Works on Artboard, Masonite, wood, acrylic, glass, metal, etc. must follow the above requirements.
3-D Works :
Any three-dimensional work intended for wall hanging must have appropriate hanging devices built into the piece. The piece should be wired if necessary and should also include any instructions for hanging. • In the case of art that is not hung, e.g. sculpture, consideration must be given to the underside to assure it is finished to protect it and the surface on which it rests. • All three-dimensional work must be structurally stable or otherwise contained.
**Presentation must be clean and professionally presented. Artwork that does not meet these requirements will not be displayed. The NHAA Gallery Manager reserves the curatorial right to remove any artwork that does not meet gallery standards.**
